The Acer Buergerianum or Trident Maple (Trident Maple) is a tree species that often occurs as a bonsai. Some Acer Buergerianums turn red - orange in autumn and others turn butter yellow. The Japanese variety has a pale bark and slightly greener leaves. The tree is easy to wire, but you must be careful that the wire does not grow too much in the bark due to its strong growth. Pruning is no problem for the trident maple and the pruning wounds close faster than people think. Cover the pruning wounds well with wound paste. Repotting should be done more often compared to other deciduous trees as the tree has many roots.
